Roots by Land

Our choice

one of Gambia’s history, “Roots” was discovered. ‘Roots’, a historic journey written by the Afro-American Author, Alex Haley, 200 years back is part of an excursion that gives our guests an idea of what happened in 200 years ago. How slavery swept away all our brave and vibrant men and women in the years pasted.

During this excursion, we join a boat at the beginning of the excursion and upon arriving at the ancient slave trading station, Albreda, take a 15 minutes walk to the Albreda Museum which housed the artefacts trade of slave, and original home of Alex Haley’s great, great grandchildren and the ancestral home of Kunta Kinteh; the main character in “Roots”.

Excursion later visits the family of Kunta Kinteh. There we will hear brief history about Kunta Kinteh from his family.

Lunch is later served on board of the boat while sighting dolphins in the great water ways of the majestic navigable river in the sub region of the river Gambia.
